Marisa Porras
Marisa Porras is an Associate Attorney at Latorre Law Firm with experience in both immigration and personal injury law. Born in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, Marisa grew up crossing the border to attend school in the United States. Her personal experience living between two countries and cultures shaped her passion for immigration law and provides her with a unique understanding of the challenges faced by immigrant families and border communities.
Marisa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, cum laude, from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, where she was a Presidential Scholarship recipient and a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. She later earned her Juris Doctor from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, where she served as Treasurer of the Hispanic Law Students Association and was a member of the International and Immigration Law Society.
Throughout her legal career, Marisa has represented clients in a broad range of immigration matters, including family-based petitions, consular processing, naturalization, VAWA petitions, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U visas, T visas, asylum, and removal proceedings. Her experience also includes legal research and the preparation of motions, briefs, and appeals before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals. She later expanded her practice into personal injury law, representing clients throughout Texas and New Mexico and managing cases from intake through settlement and disbursement.
As a native Spanish speaker, Marisa is passionate about serving and advocating for the Hispanic and immigrant communities. She is licensed to practice law in Texas and New Mexico and approaches each client’s case with compassion, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to effective advocacy.
Outside of work, Marisa enjoys playing tennis and spending time with her husband and daughter. She also values staying connected to the Hispanic community and the border region that has played such an important role in her life.
